Objective
Students will physically demonstrate their perceived strengths in the four language domains (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing) and engage in brief discussions about why they feel strong in that area, and areas where they want to grow.

Facilitation Instructions

Prepare the Room (Before class)
Label each of the four corners of your classroom with one of the language domains: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing. Use large, clear signs that are visible from across the room.

Introduce & Frame (2 min)
Explain that each corner represents a domain.
Instruct students to move to the corner that represents where they feel most confident.
Remind them: "There is no right or wrong answer. This is about your own journey."

Movement & Choice (3 min)
Ask students to stand up and move. Give them 30-60 seconds of "quiet thinking time" at their seats before they actually walk to the corner.

Group Discussion (10 min)
Discussion Prompts (Display on Slide 4-7):
Prompt A: Why did you choose this corner? What specifically makes you feel strong here?
Prompt B: Even in your strongest area, what is one thing you find challenging?
Teacher Action: Circulate and listen to the rationale students provide for their choices.

Share Out (5 min)
Ask for 1-2 volunteers per corner to summarize the vibe of their group. "In the Writing corner, many of us felt that organizing thoughts is easy, but grammar is where we want to grow."
Facilitation Tips
Corner Balance
If one corner is empty, don't worry! Use it as a talking point. "Why do we think no one feels strongest in Writing right now?"
Encourage Nuance
Encourage students to be specific. Instead of "I'm good at reading," help them say "I'm good at finding evidence in articles."
Peer Support
This activity builds community. Students realize they aren't alone in their challenges or their strengths.
