What's a Root Word?
The basic part of a word that carries the main meaning.
"Think of it as the heart of the word! It can't be broken down any further and still make sense."

What's a Prefix?
A word part added to the beginning of a root word to change its meaning.
It pre-cedes the root, just like a movie pre-view!
Examples:
un- (not) + happy = unhappy
re- (again) + write = rewrite
pre- (before) + pay = prepay

What's a Suffix?
A word part added to the end of a root word to change its meaning or part of speech.
It suf-fixes the word by coming last!
Examples:
read + -er (one who) = reader
quick + -ly (manner) = quickly
help + -ful (full of) = helpful
