Step-by-Step Activity Flow

Circle Introduction & The Detective Mission

Gather on the rug. Introduce the mystery basket. Explain: "Detectives, every item in our room has a special home! When we place words and picture labels on them, our room becomes easy to explore and tidy."

Model the Match: "Look, Say, & Point"
5 Mins
Hold up the Book Corner card. Point to the image: "What is this?" Track the word left-to-right with two fingers: "B-O-O-K-S!" Have all children point across the room to where books live, then attach the card together at child eye-level.

The Room Safari Labeling Walk
10 Mins
Call up pairs of children to select a label card (e.g., Block Area, Art Table). The class does the Detective Footstep Stomp while the pair carries the card, locates the target zone, and sticks it on with tape.

Celebration & "I Spy a Label" Game
5 Mins
Reconvene on the carpet. Play a quick game of "I Spy!" Give clues: "I spy a label where we paint colorful pictures!" Children point together to the Art Table. Celebrate their detective badges!

Emergent English Learners Pair gestures with home language terms for universal objects like "water/agua" and "book/libro."
