Weekly Mission Map
Day 1
Nature's Gifts
Introduce Water and Air. Discuss where we see them. Activity: "Ranger Hunt" drawing where resources are found.
Day 2
Water World
Uses of water (drinking, cleaning, plants). Introduction to water pollution. Activity: Matching water uses.
Day 3
Air We Breathe
Invisible importance of air. Sources of smoke and smog. Activity: Drawing clean vs. dirty air scenes.
Day 4
Save Squad
Action day! Picking up trash, turning off taps, walking vs driving. Activity: Matching problems to hero solutions.
Day 5
Ranger Reports
Constructing the argument: "We protect air/water because..." Activity: Final Argument Drawing and Evidence presentation.
Argument Tip for 1st Grade
Evidence for 1st graders means "I saw this" or "I know this happens." When they say "We should save water because fish need it to live," the fish needing it is their evidence. Encourage "Because..." statements!
