Structural Foundations
In this lesson, 8th-grade students act as 'informational architects' to deconstruct and analyze five common nonfiction text structures: description, sequence, cause/effect, compare/contrast, and problem/solution. Through direct instruction, text analysis, and a creative rewriting activity, students learn how these organizational patterns clarify complex ideas and enhance authorial intent.
