(14) We drove to our assigned spot and began setting up. We arranged the honey by clover, wildflower, and buckwheat. The sight of the golden jars shimmering in the morning light was beautiful.

(15) "Leo, hand me those heavy wooden crates so I can secure the display," Mom said, looking over at me.

(16) I froze. My stomach did a somersault. I realized I had forgotten the crates in the garage. Mom, Grandfather, and Maya all looked at me expectantly.

(17) "I'll fix it!" I yelled, and I took off running toward the vendor stalls before they could even say a word.

(18) I remembered that our neighbor, Mr. Henderson, was selling apples today, and he always used sturdy wooden boxes. I kept my fingers crossed that he had a few to spare. I sprinted past tables covered in pumpkins, handmade quilts, and fresh cider, but I couldn't see his bright red banner anywhere.

(19) Out of breath, I kept weaving through the rows of people. If the wind hit our table without the crates, our honey jars would slide and shatter. I reached the very last row, my heart pounding with worry.

(20) Finally, I spotted Mr. Henderson. I ran toward him, nearly tripping over a stray pumpkin.

(21) "Slow down there, Leo! Is everything okay?" Mr. Henderson asked with a laugh.

(22) I wheezed, trying to catch my breath as I explained how I had left our crates behind. I asked if he had any extras we could borrow for the day.

(23) "You're in luck! My son just finished unloading the last of the apples. Take these two," he said, sliding the heavy boxes toward me.

(24) Just then, a sudden gust of wind whistled through the meadow, rattling the nearby signs.

(25) I grabbed the crates, one under each arm, and started the long trek back. I moved carefully but quickly, making sure not to bump into the growing crowd of shoppers. The fair was officially open, and people were everywhere.

(26) I made it back just in time. As I slid the crates into place, a powerful wind gust shook our tent, but the jars stayed perfectly still. Mom smiled and gave me a thumbs-up, looking proud that I had solved the problem on my own. I went back to work, finally realizing that the day was much better when I was helping my family instead of thinking only about myself.
