The Triangle Briefing
Quick recap of the "Triangle" example (from 0:12 in the video). Draw a triangle on the board. Ask: "If I fold this, will the sides match?" Introduce the term Line of Symmetry.

Watch the video summary (8:48-9:19). Review the three core terms: Symmetrical, Line of Symmetry, and Asymmetrical. Use the "matching halves" hand gesture (folding hands together).

Symmetry Detectives Fieldwork
Students work in pairs with their checklists. They must find 5 items in the room.
Field Note: They must draw the item AND the line of symmetry they discovered.

The Clock Mystery
Gather on the rug. Pose the critical thinking challenge: "Is a clock symmetrical if it has numbers on it?" Discuss how shape vs. detail affects symmetry.
Detective Debrief Questions
"What was the hardest thing to draw symmetry on?"
Focuses on complex shapes vs. simple geometric ones.
"Can an object have more than one line of symmetry?"
Reference the 'X' example (horizontal vs. vertical).
Watch Out For
1st graders often struggle with horizontal symmetry. Remind them of the "Letter C" example—not every line goes up and down! Encourage them to turn their clipboards to look at objects from different angles.
