Paragraphs 1-2

Frances was blowing bubbles in the last bit of her bedtime milk. Her bubbles weren't spilling over, but Aunt Augusta frowned anyway. “Act your age, Frances,” she snapped. Frances stopped immediately, feeling her cheeks grow hot. She was glad when her aunt finally went home.

The next day at recess, Frances was laughing and playing ring-around-the-rosy with her five-year-old sister, Grace. Just then, her friend Julie walked up, looking embarrassed. “You'd better act your age,” Julie warned. “What will the older girls think of you playing baby games?” Reluctantly, Frances let go of Grace's hand and walked away, her shoulders slumped. Was growing up supposed to mean giving up everything fun?
