Scope, Grouping, and Ambiguity

This lesson addresses syntactic ambiguity caused by poor grouping in natural language (e.g., the scope of a negation). Students learn to use parentheses to enforce hierarchy and eliminate amphibolies in their own writing and the writing of others.
