The Echo Circle Game

A listening skills activity for Kindergarten

The Goal

To practice focused listening by remembering and repeating what a classmate shared before adding your own piece.

Setup

Gather the whole class in a comfortable circle on the rug. Ensure everyone can see and hear each other clearly.

How to Play

Introduction

"Today we're playing the Echo Circle! To be a good echo, we have to listen really closely to our friends."

The First Voice

Pick a student to start. They say their name and one thing they like.
Example: "My name is Emma, and I like books."

The Echo

The next student must repeat what the first student said before sharing their own.
Example: "Emma likes books. My name is Jack, and I like trucks."

Keep it Going

Continue around the circle until everyone has had a turn to be the 'echo' and share their own favorite thing.

Teacher Pro-Tip

If a student gets stuck, encourage them to look at their friend and ask, "Can you say that one more time? I want to make sure I heard you." This models active listening!
