Why This Matters

Learning how to withstand bullying helps students protect their emotional well-being and fosters a safer, more respectful school environment. This lesson provides actionable strategies for immediate use, especially beneficial for students needing explicit social-emotional reminders.

Preparation

Review the Bully Blocker Boosters Slide Deck for content and flow.
Print copies of the My Bully Blocker Toolkit Activity for each student.
Prepare materials for Bully Blocker Bingo Game (print cards and call-out slips).

Lesson Procedure

Warm-Up: What Does Bullying Look Like?

Display the first slide. Ask: "What does bullying sound like or look like? How does it make someone feel?"

Facilitate discussion. Emphasize that bullying is unfair and never the victim's fault. Transition: "Today, we're going to learn some superpowers to stop bullying in its tracks!"

Introducing Bully Blocker Strategies

10 MIN

Use the Slide Deck to introduce the four core strategies:

Speak Up Strong: Firm voice, "Stop!", tall posture, eye contact.
Walk Away Wiggle: Remove yourself confidently.
Tell a Trusted Adult: Clear communication with teachers/parents.
Coping Calmers: Deep breaths, counting to 10.

Distribute the Toolkit Activity. Guide students to draw/write their favorite strategies.

Bully Blocker Bingo!

10 MIN

Read scenarios from the Bingo Game. Students mark the strategy they would use.

Differentiation: For neurodivergent students, allow them to choose from a visual aid of strategies if verbalizing is difficult.

Cool Down & Reflection

5 MIN

Ask: "What is one 'Bully Blocker' you feel confident using?" Reiterate that they have support and it's always okay to ask a trusted adult for help.
