The call has gone out across the Hejaz. We do not fight for the sultan in Istanbul, for his war is not our war. Our goal is the liberation of Arab lands from foreign rule. To do this, we must strike where the enemy is weakest and most dependent.

The iron rails of the Hejaz Railway are the lifeline of the Ottoman garrison in Medina. By day, they are guarded; by night, the desert belongs to us. Small groups of horsemen and camel riders can vanish into the dunes, striking a bridge or a section of track before disappearing into the vastness where no regular soldier can follow.

We rely on our allies, who provide us with the explosives and modern rifles we need. Though they come from across the sea, their interest in defeating the Ottomans matches our desire for independence. Together, we turn the geography that the enemy fears into our greatest weapon.
