The "gateway" structures protect and focus light, while the retina performs Transduction.

The eye's lens changes its curvature to focus light on the retina.

Distant objects: Lens becomes flatter.

Near objects: Lens becomes rounder/thicker.

Adjustable Focus

The lens projects an inverted and reversed image onto the retina.

The central focal point in the retina, where the eye's cones cluster.

Retinal Projection

"Your brain turns the world right-side up."

The sharpness or clarity of vision.

Highest concentration of receptors is in the fovea (center of gaze).
