Lesson 2: Llama Tell You Rumors

Objectives

Identify the difference between a fact and a rumor.
Understand how stories change as they spread (Telephone Game).
Learn strategies to stop rumors ("The Llama Wall").

Materials Needed

Procedure

1. The "Telephone" Tangle (10 mins)

Play a quick game of Telephone. Start with a neutral llama-themed sentence. Discuss how the message changed and why stories can get twisted.

2. Fact vs. Rumor (10 mins)

Use slides to define "Rumor" vs. "Fact". Discuss why rumors are like "spilled tea"—hard to clean up once they're out. Emphasize "Whose story is it?"

3. Building the "Llama Wall" (15 mins)

Pass out the Stop the Rumor Worksheet. Teach assertive phrases: "I don't feel comfortable talking about her when she's not here," or "Is that really helpful to share?"

4. Reflection (5 mins)

Complete Reflection Log 2. Focus on a time they heard a rumor and their new plan to handle it.

Facilitator Tip: Gossip isn't just about "mean" lies; it's also about sharing truths that aren't ours to tell. Reinforce that being a Secret Keeper builds high-quality herd trust.
